Touring the Mansion
We suggest that visitors allow at least one hour and fifteen minutes to tour the home and grounds. Allow for an extra hour to enjoy a delicious meal in the Oak Alley Restaurant and to browse the 2600 sq. ft. Oak Alley Gift Shop and blacksmith's shop.
Tours of the mansion are conducted by guides dressed in period costumes and are given on the hour, generally lasting 35 to 40 minutes. Visitors may walk the well-manicured grounds at their leisure with the help of a grounds map, which is provided when you purchase your ticket. For our international visitors, we offer a ground map and a brief written history of the mansion tour in French, Spanish and German.
Photographs or videotaping are not allowed to be taken inside the home. Professional photography and books are available for purchase in the Gift Shop. You are welcome to take any photography on the galleries or grounds for personal use only.
All commercial uses of Oak Alley's image are prohibited without written permission from Oak Alley Plantation. See our Media Page if you are a journalist or would like more information about commercial uses of Oak Alley's images.
Our grounds and first floor of the mansion are handicap accessible; and we offer ample parking for our handicapped visitors near the mansion. The restaurant, café and gift shop are also handicap accessible and offer convenient parking as well.
Be sure to try one of our famous mint juleps available at our souvenir table located at the back door of the mansion as well as in the restaurant and café.
