A short video of sugarcane harvesting around Oak Alley Plantation
This is the time of year known as the 'Grinding Season' here in south Louisiana. This is the time of the year that the tall sugarcane is cut and trucked to local sugar refineries (mills) to get turned into sugar, molasses and cane syrup. It is the time of year when sugarcane farmers start to see the rewards from a long year of work, so it is both a time of very hard work and, with luck, great reward.
Here is a video we recorded of the sugarcane being harvested around Oak Alley Plantation.
Special thanks to Blackberry Farms for allowing us to film their team hard at work!
